Mulhall’s Nursery

Mulhall's is a complex of structures, greenhouses, and open-air yards added as needs required through the store's growth. The resulting shopping experience is rich, a blurred condition resulting from continually moving from inside to outside, greenhouse to interior spaces, as one navigates plants and products. The logic is organizational and open, responding to the greenhouse module rather than ordered, architectural, and closed. Ongoing renovation projects involve providing clarity to the shopping experience as well as reinforcing the brand through a material palette and design that draws from the existing logic. The first phase involved the demolition of a building and renovation of an adjacent existing storage building to provide a new checkout space and entry plaza designed to accommodate store events. Ongoing work includes a masterplan for the parking lot, wayfinding, and further renovations of existing structures.
